Define the Scope

Define the Scope for a Basic query

Using the drop-down menus shown in region 1 of the graphic for a basic query, you define the context for the data object explorer session. This includes:

  • Compartment: The OCI compartment containing the resources you’re interested in. To include data from all child compartments within the currently selected compartment, select Include child compartments.
  • Resource type: Select the type of database resource.
    • For SQL and Database explorer the available options are: Oracle database or MySQL database.
    • For Data Object explorer the available options are: Database - Oracle, Database - MySQL, Exadata, and Host.
  • Data object: Provides a curated view of the data stored in Oracle SQL Explorer against which your SQL query will be run. For more information about data objects and availability, see Data Object Reference.
  • Region: Query data across multiple regions. Once you select the regions to be queried, the Resource filter will query all available resources from the selected regions. The Resource filter drop-down will show the resource name and region in parenthesis.
  • Resource (display name): Select one or more resources from the selected compartment on which to focus your query. The name of this filter changes according to the selected data object. For example, when the SQL Stats Daily data object is selected, the filter is titled Database display name.
  • Tags: Select one or more tags to narrow your query to only those resources with specific tag resource keys and values.
    Note

If you have tags set at time of saving they will be persisted.
  • Time range: Select the period of time during which data has been collected.

Define the Scope for an Advanced Query

Using the drop-down menus shown in region 1 of the graphic for an advanced query, you define the context for the data object explorer session. This includes:

  • Compartment: The OCI compartment containing the resources you’re interested in. To include data from all child compartments within the currently selected compartment, select Include child compartments.
  • Resource type: Filter by the type of resource, listing all resources from a selected type. Depending on the Explorer to be used, the available resources you can filter by are:
    • SQL Explorer: Oracle and MySQL
    • Database Explorer: Oracle and MySQL
    • Data Object Explorer: Database - Oracle, Database - MySQL, Exadata, and Host.
  • Region: Query data across multiple regions. Once you select the regions to be queried, the Resource filter will query all available resources from the selected regions. The Resource filter drop-down will show the resource name and region in parenthesis.
  • Resource (display name): Enter the display name of the resource type selected.
